Abstract

This document tries to provide a comprehensive overview over the proposed im2000 mail/message infrastructure. It is intended to define Terms and action as open as possible to allow different implementations of each component, while beeing sufficient specific to guarantee interoperability from Sender to Recipient, regardless of the actual implementation.

It is also intented to provide a reference for implementation with this document, in that an implementation shall state it's "compliance" with the defined terms, procedures and requirements.

The focus of this text are general principles, not implementation details. The politics behind is to provide as soon as posible real implementations and migration of traditional Email-traffic to a more Spam-hostile environment. It is intentionally possible to have less or more secure implementations, but letting the security riscs involved in message transmission be transparent.
